- Q. How should I take Gentle Iron Bisglycinate?A: Take one capsule daily, preferably with a meal. While iron absorbs best on an empty stomach, taking it with food can help if you experience any sensitivity. Swallow the capsule whole with water and maintain a consistent daily routine for best results. For optimal absorption, avoid tea, coffee, or dairy products within two hours of taking your capsule.Q. What makes iron bisglycinate different from regular iron supplements?A: Iron bisglycinate is a chelated form where iron is bound to amino acids (glycine), creating a protective structure that improves absorption and tolerability. Unlike ferrous sulphate or fumarate that often cause constipation and nausea, bisglycinate absorbs smoothly without harsh digestive side effects. It's more bioavailable, meaning your body actually uses more of what you take - so you get better results from a gentler formula.Q. How much iron am I actually getting per capsule?A: Each capsule provides 28mg of elemental iron from ferrous bisglycinate, which equals 200% of your Nutrient Reference Value (NRV). This is the amount of pure, usable iron your body receives - not the total weight of the compound.Q. When will I start to see results?A: Most people begin noticing improvements in energy levels and overall wellbeing within 3-4 weeks of consistent use. However, it typically takes 2-4 months for iron supplementation to fully replenish your body's iron stores and maximise benefits. Continue taking Gentle Iron Bisglycinate as directed, and consider follow-up blood tests with your healthcare provider to track your progress.Q. Can I take this with my other vitamins or medications?A: Iron can interact with certain medications and supplements. Avoid taking Gentle Iron Bisglycinate at the same time as calcium supplements, antacids, thyroid medications, or antibiotics - leave at least a 2-hour gap. The small amount of calcium in multivitamins is generally fine. If you're on prescription medications, especially for thyroid conditions or osteoporosis, consult your healthcare provider before starting iron supplementation.Q. Is Gentle Iron safe to take during pregnancy?A: Iron bisglycinate is considered a safe and effective option during pregnancy and is often preferred over traditional iron salts because it's gentler on the stomach - a major advantage when pregnancy-related nausea is already a concern. The 400µg folic acid also supports healthy fetal development4. However, always consult your midwife or doctor before starting any supplement during pregnancy to ensure it's appropriate for your individual needs.Q. Should I take this with or without food?A: Iron absorbs best on an empty stomach (about 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals), but if this causes any stomach sensitivity, taking Gentle Iron Bisglycinate with a small meal is perfectly fine. The bisglycinate form is less affected by food than traditional iron salts, so you'll still get good absorption either way. Choose the approach that works best for your routine and tolerance.
