What are omega-3 fatty acids and how do they work?
Omega-3 fatty acids come in two forms, eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). They’re found in certain foods, namely fish and shellfish, nuts and seeds, and in concentrated form in supplements like our own myvitamins Omega-3 supplement.
As well as being an important nutrient in its own right, omega-3 is also important for balancing omega-6 inside your body. Omega-6 has its uses, but too much of it can lead to inflammation. Our meat-rich diets are often high in omega-6, and omega-3 is useful for restoring balance. This is particularly important for healthy blood vessels.
Fish oil is a cheap, safe and effective source of omega-3 fatty acids, and can be taken daily as part of your supplementation plan.
