MyVitamins Picks: 5 Refreshing Summer Cocktails

The MyVitamins crew is not adverse a few cocktails every now and then. We do, however, prefer ours on the refreshing side, more Carrie Bradshaw’s Cosmopolitan than Don Draper’s Old Fashioned.

Here they are! Our top 5, ultra-refreshing summer cocktails.

Frozen Grape Sangria

You’ll need:
800g seedless green grapes
1 large Granny Smith apple
1 lemon
20g superfine sugar
2 bottle medium-bodied red wine (such as Merlot)
240ml Concord grape juice
120ml vodka
Lots of ice

Directions:
Freeze most of the grapes until solid
Mixall remaining ingredients until sugar is dissolved
Divide frozen grapes into glasses, pour over cocktail

Peach Melba Mimosas

You’ll need:

700g thawed frozen raspberries
20g sugar
350g thawed frozen peaches
1 tsp. fresh lemon juice
2 bottle chilled champagne, cava, or other sparkling white wine
½ pt. fresh raspberries

Directions:

Blend raspberries and half the sugar, then rinse the blender
Blend peaches, remaining sugar, lemon juice and a splash of water
Spoon puree into each glass, top with wine
Serve with raspberry garnish

Pineapple-Tequila Cooler

You’ll need:

250g sugar
1 small pineapple
¼ small jalapeño
175ml añejo tequila
175ml blanco tequila
Juice of 2 limes (about 1/4 cup)
Lots of crushed ice
Peel of 1 lime

Directions:

Bring 175ml water to a boil with the sugar, and cook until sugar dissolves
In a pitcher, mash the pineapple and chillies into a puree, stir in the tequila, syrup and lime juice
Serve over lots of crushed ice

Cherry Gin Smash

You’ll need:

24 sour cherries
4 cube sugar
Juice of 2 limes
60ml gin
ginger ale
Ice
Lime wedges to garnish

Directions:

Smash the cherries and sugar until cherries release their juice and sugar is dissolved
Add lime juice and gin, shake vigorously
Strain and serve over ice, garnished with lime

Raspberry Limoncello Prosecco

You’ll need:

700ml prosecco, chilled
200ml limoncello liqueur, chilled
200g frozen raspberries
6 sprigs fresh mint

Directions:

Stir together prosecco and limoncello
Served over raspberries with mint to garnish.
