We all want great skin. But our skin is exposed to a lot, which can make it dry. So how can we rescue dry skin?
A healthy glow, natural radiance and spot-free skin is something the most talented of make-up artists struggle to achieve. Maintaining beautiful skin is even harder considering just how many things can affect it; cold weather, harsh soaps and ‘chemical’ cleaners can leave you feeling dull and dry. If your skin rebels whenever you change a single part of your routine; from washing powder to moisturiser chances are, you’re suffering from sensitive skin.
So how can you boost your beauty the natural way? Here are 5 tips and tricks to rescue dry skin.
- Stay Hydrated
- Stick to a routine
- Eat right
Making sure you get the right nutrients can be just as important too. What’s on the inside matters!
How To Rescue Dry Skin
Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate!
We know, we know, we’ve said it a million times before but gulping down 2-4 litres of H20 every day can help your body in hundreds of different ways, including helping reduce inflammation and blemishes.
Keeping your water levels topped up prevents your skin from dehydrating, the main cause of premature ageing. If you find it hard to reach your target each day, try sipping on mint tea or invest in a water infuser for a top tipple with a healthy twist.
Wipe away the day
We’ve all been there; falling asleep after a night on the town with a full face of makeup might not seem like the end of the world, but you could actually be doing more harm to your skin than you think. Over-wearing makeup can increase exposure to free radicals, leading to collagen breakdown and the loss of skin elasticity.
Perfect a routine
A skincare ‘routine’ might seem like an intimidating prospect at first, but once you’ve got into the groove you’ll be glad you started early. At a minimum, you’ll need to cleanse, tone and moisturise, plus a gentle exfoliate once a week to remove the top layer of dead skin.
Love thy moisturiser
Finding the right moisturiser can be like finding the right spouse; you have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find the one! Over-priced expensive moisturisers can be a huge waste of money, especially those packed with perfumes that could potentially irritate skin.
You are what you eat
Beautiful skin starts from within so make sure you are nourishing your body from the inside with a healthy, balanced diet. Essential micronutrients from your diet play an important role in the rejuvenation and regeneration of skin cells, vital for healthy looking skin.
Supplementing with, or eating foods rich in vitamin C, selenium and vitamin E such as sweet potatoes, avocado, blueberries, broccoli and brazil nuts support the healthy function of cell growth and can also protect your skin against sun damage and collagen depletion.
