Soup, not only tastes great, but, has been found to be an effective weight loss aid. Research has found that consuming a meal in liquid form causes the stomach to stretch further than that of solid food. As a result, the hormone ghrelin, which controls appetite (tells your brain that you’re hungry), is suppressed, allowing you to feel full. These feelings of fullness last for much longer than normal solid food consumption, this is because the stomach empties at a much slower rate when full up with soup.
