5 Stress Relieving Foods

Stress can send you one of two ways; either you lose your appetite all together or you want to devour everything and anything in sight. When you’ve got deadline after deadline, healthy eating can sometimes be hard. However, sticking to nutrient-dense foods can help boost your serotonin levels to avoid you feeling like the incredible sulk.

Cacao

This raw, antioxidant-rich superfood is loaded with anandamide; a molecule also known as the ‘bliss chemical’. Cacao also contains the chemical phenylethylamine (PEA), which is also known as the ‘love chemical’. PEA is heat sensitive, and is therefore unique to raw cacao. Both anadamide and PEA increase pleasure signals to the brain which helps to reduce stress levels, naturally improving your mood. The best part about cacao is that it’s packed full essential vitamins and minerals: A, B, C, E, magnesium, protein, fibre, zinc and iron, making for the perfect, guilt-free treat!
