5 DIY Beauty Treatments at Home

A trip to the spa often comes costly consequences, so we’ve designed these kitchen cupboard, wallet-friendly DIY beauty treatments for you to try at home!  WARNING these treatments are best tried when you’re not expecting visitors (some are not the most aesthetically pleasing).

De-puff with Green Tea

Puffy eyes and dark circles are a result of everyday life that can be caused by many things such as lack of sleep, crying and salty foods. Unless you’re willing to give up your busy life, stop watching soppy rom-coms and ditch favourite cheat meals try using green tea to get rid of these unwanted bags.  Simply soak 2 green tea bags in hot water for 1 minute, allow them to cool in the refrigerator and apply to the eyes. The caffeine in the tea will help shrink blood vessels around the eyes, reducing puffiness and dark circles.

Hydrate with Bananas

Who needs Botox when you’ve got bananas?! Bananas are packed full of potassium which help moisturise and hydrate the skin leaving you with a fantastically healthy glow. Mash up 1 banana into a fine paste, add 1/4 cup plain yoghurt and 2 tablespoons honey. Leave the mask on for 10/20 minutes before washing off.

Purify with Lemons

Lemons act as a natural disinfectant, helping to reduce the acne and appearance of existing scars. Simply dab the lemon juice onto your face with a cotton pad and let this amazing fruit do the rest! Alternatively, mix lemon juice with ¼ cup of granulated sugar and a teaspoon of honey for an exfoliating face scrub.

Cleanse with Honey and Oatmeal

Honey has been found to have many amazing antibiotic properties that can help improve the appearance of acne and being a natural anti-irritant, it is perfect if you suffer from sensitive skin. Add ½ of honey with 1 cup of oats which have been ground up into a fine texture and leave the mask on for 30 minutes. Although having your face smothered in oats may not be the top of your beauty to-do list, this face pack will leave you feeling like a million dollars.

Moisturise with Avocados

As well as being nourishing for your insides this amazing multipurpose fruit can work wonders on your hair too. Simply mash avocado and banana into a paste and apply to your hair. Bananas are full of potassium and avocados are packed with moisturising fatty acids – both soften hair instantly. Go on…avo-go!
